Music Folder & Cloud Player
by: Stefan Pledl • 6
If you keep your music collection organized by folders on your device or in the cloud (Dropbox or Google Drive) Music Folder Player should be your first choice when it comes to Android music players.
Its unique feature - Floating Controls - is a set of controls (for previous/next song, play/pause), which will float above all other apps.
Instead of leaving a game in order to change a song, you just tap to expand it and change your song without disturbing your game play.
The app is fully customizable:
- Swipe animations
- ActionBar color
- List style (Cards, Colors, Sizes)
Music Folder Player is free, has a beautiful Holo design but uses the folder structure on your usb storage. Most music formats are supported (I am currently working on WMA support on all devices, stay tuned).
There are a lot of players out there, like MortPlayer, WinAmp or PowerAmp (check these out if you don't like this, they are great!), why chose this one?
If you are like me and are too lazy to go through your whole mp3 library and edit every album’s mp3 tags, you won’t see your songs neatly organized in most other apps or you might even miss some songs. I know there are some good folder players out there, but literally none follows the android design guidelines. Music Folder Player looks beautiful and does just what it is supposed to.
Play music from your device, Dropbox or Google Drive
Upon your first visit you can choose a (device) root path for your music, you can add shortcuts to the navigation drawer from every path from your device, Dropbox or Google Drive.
Music folders on your device are displayed a little different than folders in the cloud. If a folder.jpg is in place, it will be used instead of the folder icon. If none is found, the Android Media Scanner will be asked, if another thumbnail is in place.
There are 3 cover sizes to choose from: small, normal and large. You can download covers within the app (via musicbrainz.org and coverartarchive.org).
You can choose between a card style layout or a dark transparent one.
Once you are in a folder with only files, all artists and albums are displayed at the top and you can click those to find more music from the artist or switch to the second CD of an album.
The play panel displays the current song a Play/Pause button and the cover. You can slide the panel up to find the repeat, shuffle, previous and next button. You can swipe to the left and right to play the next and previous song.
Of course there is a widget, which is resizable and lockscreen controls.
You can add songs or folders to the queue (touch the 3 dots 'more' button in every folder/file). You can access the queue by swiping up the play panel and touching the queue icon. The queued items can be added, deleted and re-arranged.
Use one of the presets or tune your sound as you like. Turn on the Bass boost for an extra boom in your headphones.
★ Implement a cloud cache limit
★ Save queue to multiple playlists
★ Retrieve artist info online
★ A better tablet layout
★ You tell me! Just send an email
