Stream music from wherever you are.

    • Lots of variety
    • Less ads than competitors
    • It has Chromecast support
    • It froze once
    • Repetitive ad
    • Download restriction

"Being A Slacker Ain't So Bad"

Slacker Radio is a streaming music app that has a few features that set it apart from its competitors. Listen to music to your heart's content and access a healthy database of new options.

With Slacker, you get a ton of variety. Expect to hear a lot less ads than you would on other platforms, as well. It comes with Chromecast support. It's nice to be able to create more customized radio stations.

Each update appears to remove something that previously had been free of charge. It froze once when moving on to the next song and needed to restarted. Even though it has less ads, it plays the same one all the time. There is a download restriction.

Been a free user for like 8 years. The best part about the app are easily the "my music" features - oh, and the great interface on the notifications bar of course. About 4 years ago I was using the app every day, got an actual job, and was finally ready to upgrade to premium. Ironically, at the same time the app kinda deleted everything on "my music". Imagine every bar being set to zero. I was DEVISTATED. It must've been over a couple thousand favorited songs and artists. I say kind of because they are still there on a mobile favorites radio station or completely there on desktop. Thank God it wasn't a major tragedy - I just can't see my 600 or so favorited artists on mobile. But you see, that's the best part of the user experience for me, and I really miss it. I sent an email to support about it (in 2014, mind you) and basically got a "you are not a paying user so give us your money and get back to us". I replied that I wouldn't want to be a paying user until the bug is fixed in the next update. Whatever, my case is closed and I wait for the next update. It's 2017 now, two phones later, and who knows how many updates passed, and it is still not fixed. I'm not really sure what compelled me to write this today; I guess I just want to make playlists again and expected the same response on the tech support email. Anyways, here are some additional things I want to say: -Were the issue resolved the first go, I would have been a premium user since 2014. - In the first 4 years of use, I would recommend the app to a friend about 1 time per week. I was pretty much a walking advertisement. That's probably dropped to about 1 time per six months. -Weekly use from 2014 to 2017 has dropped from about 60 hours per week to 2. -It has become much more tempting to find music through less savory avenues. Sorry, but it's the truth. Thanks to whoever read this, and even after over 3 years, I'm still committed to my decision to become a premium user the day the bug is fixed. And if you are someone considering downloading the app, it is definitely still the best out there and I plan on changing my review to 5 stars when this is fixed.

Been using the premium through Verizon for years. Tried them all and Slacker is just better.
