    Readability's review

    Published: 2012-03-14, by .

Readability is a news feed, reader and browser, all-in-one

    • Web version support
    • Read it offline
    • Read it later or now
    • Kinder layout than articles' web version
    • Browser
    • It doesn't integrate RSS Feeds

    "Android became readable"

Readability web version has been working for a while now, as well as its iOS version. Due to its success, its developers decide the break into the Android Market. What does it do? It turns any web page into a clean-view customized by yourself, for reading now or later on your computer or Android device. The full experience required install the add-on for your web-browser. It allows you to change the view of your browser for a kinder reading, save it to read it later (it automatically sync with your mobile devices) or even send it to your Kindle (via your Kindle account).

Unlike other reader, Readability is also a browser. What does it mean? You can navigate your favorite news sites from the app and after choosing and article you want to read press on "read it now" or "read it later". Then, you'll be able to read it in a kinder layout going back home or even when you get home, in your tablet or laptop (from the web version). You can read it offline, of course.

In a nutshell, Readability works like other "Read it Later" apps, however, it adds three new features: a) send it to Kindle; b) browser navigation; c) Kinder (and customizable) layout for reading. What's more, its minimalist user-friendly interface makes things easier and its transitions effects makes it cuter. We've just found two catches: it's not original, there are well-known app that performs and, in the other hand, it doesn't integrate RSS Feeds. It's annoying switching from RSS Readers to Read-it-later or browser apps. Let's integrate! Anyway, highly recommendable.

I've been using it for years. Now I'm looking for a replacement: can't save articles to my reading list. Constantly get error messages: failed to save, try later. Yeah. I'm trying to read later, not going back to look for the article again!!! Reading list also fails to update correctly. What have you done to my favorite app?

Klutzy, slow and doesn't really work. AVOID. On my computer my reading list has stuff in it. On my phone, when logged in to the SAME ACCOUNT, the reading list is resolutely EMPTY. Ok. Fixed that. I just had to force close the app and reopen it. So then I add a few more articles to my reading list from my computer. Then I check my reading list on my phone. Nope. Nothing new. EVEN IF I ASK IT TO RE-DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING.

I thought this would be like a text only browser, where it would ignore everything but the text, thereby loading faster and saving bandwidth. This doesn't really do that.
