Email App for Gmail & Exchange
by: Boomerang for Android (Baydin) • 10K
Using gestures to manage e-mail is trend. In fact, it's one of the handiest and fastest way to manage e-mail and let things tied up. Although the official app of is already integrating them, there's still a long way to go. For this reason, apps like Boomerang which, by now, are a step further on this field, can become a great alternative for those concerned about efficiency and productivity.
Boomerang only supports Gmail and Google Apps accounts, so far (more services will be added gradually). Linking your Gmail account to Boomerange is as easy as select the account and type your password. Once the account is linked you can start managing more efficiently your inbox by gestures. Swipe to the right on any e-mail received to archive it (you can undo any action for a few seconds after applying it). Swipe to the left to display a bar of multi-actions that can be performed: archive, delete, mark as unread, tag, star and boomerang. The latter is the genuine feature of this app: boomeranging a message will bring it back to your inbox when you need in the future (tonight at..., tomorrow, in 2 days, next week, in a month, etc.)
Boomerang is set in Holo layout, that's it, with that swipable left-side menu that allows fast access to main features of the app. The way sections and features are displayed makes navigation way more intuitive than other e-mail clients. You can easily switch between your different accounts. The app runs smoothly.
The only catch is related to design: it's overall good but it should be more customizable. In addition, although the added-value feature (access to actions by swiping) is quite clear now, Gmail official app is quite close to this one, and looks better.
By now, Boomerang only integrates Gmail and Google Apps accounts (more will be coming soon).
