Wordpress is the official Android app of the well-known blogging service provider

    • Useful for prolific bloggers
    • Ease of use
    • Upload media
    • Some web options aren't available

    "Mobile blogging"

Welcome to Wordpress, one of the most popular blogging networks in the world. The app version of the service tries to make it easier for bloggers to update their blogs and improve their determination. Create an account and log in with your own Wordpress site (.org or .com, it doesn't matter).

The mobile application includes some of the most important sections: you're able to view the site and stats in order to study your success. In addition, you can post comments, media files and even publish new pages. So why do you even need the website for? If that wasn't enough, you can also change the theme and the overall settings.

We love the Notification settings, where you have instant access to whatever is happening at your blog. Respond to comments, see who's following you and read new posts from your follow list.

Design has improved quite a bit and it's now a well-designed tool with a very simple and intuitive interface: anyone who's used the web version will find it extremely easy to understand.

Of course, writing isn't as comfortable as it is in a computer, but if you're using a tablet, it can be almost as great.

Original review from May 21, 2012:

Since smart mobile devices have given us the chance to read news and blogs on-the-go, bloggers have also find the need to update their

blogs more frequently. This means, even when they aren't in front of a PC. Wordpress comes up to cover the need of creating and publishing post entries on-the-go.

First time you launch the app, it allows you to add blog hosted at, add self-hosted WordPress blog or even start a new blog at Whichever options you choose, when you finish the process you'll get to Wordpress dashboard.

From there, you can add new post: input title, content, tags, status, edit, post format, publish and update. Likewise, you can add a new page, similar way. You can post a quick photo and video, check published or draft posts and edit them whenever you want. You can read comments and reply them (we have noticed some troubles with loading and replying comments). From settings, you can change username and password, add a HTTP username or passsword and set media image width.

What's more, there's a button called "Dashboard" which brings you to WordPress Dashboard (browser view). Finally you can check stats from the app. However, we've noticed some loading issues with this feature too.

WordPress on-the-go is a great idea, that will be probably more successful on tablets than smartphones. However, it needs to be enhanced regarding layout and accessibility. What's more, some options aren't available from the Android app. Some other bugs need to be fixed too to make it a really useful app. Anyway, it seems that developers are on the right track. We wish they keep it up.

I have yet to be able to connect to my own site. Even after I connected it once, it reverted back the very next time I opened the app. It won't let me log in, and continues to have connection errors whenever I try.
