    SMS Backup+'s review

SMS Backup + automatically backup/restore SMS, MMS and call log

    • Sync with Gmail and Google Calendar
    • Backup SMS/MMS and call logs
    • Scheduled backups
    • Can't app2SD
    • Layout could be improved

"Sometimes the most important data is in SMS"

SMS Backup + automatically backup/restore SMS, MMS and call log entries and sync it with Gmail/Google Calendar. You can easily (just one tap) restore your data from there to your phone. In order to avoid incompatibilities you need to enable IMAP in Gmail and set the correct time/zone, from preferences. You have to accept the permissions that the app asks for in Gmail and start to enjoy the app.

You can schedule daily backups not to lose a single SMS in case your device gets lost or robbed. You can also set notifications when backup is done. This way you will be always aware about your scheduled backups. The layout is quite simple, listed format, black background. The main flaw of this app is that there are lots of backup apps that backup/restore apps, data (including SMS, MMS, call logs and many other features). For this reason, an app that only backup a little part of your data, sins by being simple.

This app might not work properly if you app2SD SMS Backup+, so keep it in your internal storage.

SMS Backup+ has been developed by Jan Berkel, an emerging developer who's reaching great success thanks to this simple but useful app. If you are worried about security and you don't care the scenery, check this out. It will do the job and you won't even realize. Recommendable.

Automatically backup your SMS, MMS and call history with a separate label in Gmail and Google Calendar.

Later you can restore the saved data (except MMS) back to the phone, especially useful when switching to a new device.

IMAP access needs to be manually enabled in Gmail, see the website and FAQ for more information. You can of course use your own IMAP server for backups, giving you full control over your data.

SMS Backup+ is a free open-source project which has been in active development since the early days of Android, completely ad and tracking-free, supported through voluntary donations.

Many thanks to the numerous people who have donated, contributed feedback, code or translations – detailed credits can be found in the app or on the website.
