Field Trip works in a pretty simple way (as it couldn't be otherwise coming out from Google): just install the app, select the mode (how often you want to be notified) and allow GPS features in your device. Field Trip will do the work. When you get to a place it will pop up a card with details about that or nearby location (including monuments, museums, restaurants, sports field...). No need to search for anything. Info simply comes to your mobile device as often as you allow it. If you are driving or you can't get the phone, there's a TTS option via headset or bluetooth.
Users can review cards shown. First off, they can report a problem, for example, if the card isn't interesting, has inappropriate or outdated content, bad image, etc. This way, Field Trip is made by users by choosing what content deserves to be read. Field Trip is fully integrated with Google Maps which makes easier getting directions to that place.
What makes Field Trip such interesting is the amount of publications it takes as sources to add cards to the app: TimeOut, Thrillist, Food Network, Zagat, Eater. Actually, it's difficult to find cards without enough reliable info.
Field Trip is specially useful when travelling or when you move to a new city. It helps you discover those hidden places otherwise you wouldn't have a chance to know about. Highly recommended.
