    Description

Smartphone Link creates a seamless navigation experience between a compatible Garmin personal navigator and an Android smartphone. It allows the devices to share information, such as saved and recently found locations, where you parked, and your current destination. It also links your compatible nüvi to Garmin Live Services, such as traffic, and weather using your smartphone's current mobile data plan.*

Smartphone Link works with select Bluetooth-enabled 2012 through 2016 Garmin devices, including the

    What Are Garmin Live Services?
Garmin Live Services provide the most up-to-date “live” information to your Garmin navigator using your existing mobile data plan. There’s no need for an additional data connection. Some services are included free when you connect to Smartphone Link. Others are available through subscriptions that offer premium content and enhanced features.

    Examples of Garmin Live Services:
    •Local weather information:
Current localized weather, temperature and forecasts.
    • Live Traffic*:
Garmin Live Traffic provides the best-in-class real-time information to help you navigate in and around congestion. Live Traffic is updated every minute and receives more than 1,000 messages every update cycle.
    • photoLive traffic cameras*:
Provides drivers the ability to look up real-time photos from traffic cameras to get a glance at traffic and weather conditions.
    • Advanced Weather*:
In addition to what the free weather service provides, Advanced Weather also allows users to receive severe weather alerts and view animated radar images on the nüvi. Colors distinguish types of precipitation, such as rain, snow and ice, to help you avoid bad driving conditions.
    • Real-time safety cameras**:
Alerts you to fixed and mobile safety camera data to help you arrive safely at your destination.
    • Dynamic off-street parking:
Helps you locate parking areas close to your destination. It also will provide you with the number of spots available and the current cost of the parking spot.

*Contact your mobile service provider for more information about your service plan's data and roaming rates.
**Not available in all areas. Subscription required.

Android based smartphones must be running at least Android OS 4.4, with Smartphone Link version 2.5

It is not possible to do long distances search, which makes is pretty useless. It should use Bluetooth only for traffic info and for loudspeakers during phonecall but it consume much more battery than directly navigate on the phone itself using Google maps. Pretty useless.

It's a battery hog. I will probably uninstall it, and only reinstall when I drive on vacation.

Appalling app. Eats battery, can't find subscriptions, can't send locations from other apps. Feels like a beta.

If only it 'paired' reliably... I've tried so many suggestions on the web on how to do a 'reliable' Bluetooth connection, but none are that great. From complete shutdowns of mobile and sat-nav, unpairing, cache clears, uninstalls, stating one before the other, lots of others, different mobile and even factory resets, nothing seems to correct the 'SmartLink Failed' message. The firmware on all the devices is up to date, it's a nightmare! I spend more time getting this right than I do driving sometimes! Any suggestions would be appreciated... But, when it IS working it works like a charm, there just seems to be a different method of connecting it each time, sometime it's as simple as turning Flight mode on/off, other times it's forget/pair, other times it's a uninstall/reinstall on the mobile. This is the only Bluetooth app that gives this problem, headphones, motorcycle intercom, OBD, file transfer and others, all fine, even multiple devices, fine, it's just this one app. Please find a reason and a fix...
