The arch-classical ZX game ported to mobile devices

    "LOAD The Lords of Midnight"

Lords of Midnight was an eclectic game back in the eighties which was born already a legend, probably ten or twenty years ahead in time. Regrettably, there were only 48k Spectrums back then and LoM got lost within the limbo of forgotten wonders of early home computer science. Indeed, it was like it was buried as a cursed ancient relic, known only to a few. And, like old omens use to do, nearly thirty years later it comes back directly into our mobile devices. It's an odd feeling.

In order. LoM is much a non-real time war game, but it's also an adventure game as you have to solve quests starred by different characters to advance to further epic battles and eventually defeat the evil Witch King. In a very little nutshell, it's like the ultimate Lord of the Rings videogame should be. However, it comes with a heavy burden on its back: it has been ported as it was, so here we have a legend of ZX games showing off eight color screens and beep sounds, a pioneer tech (then) to make things relatively be seen in perspective and nostalgia in every little bit of data.

We appreciate it, but being what it is, coming from where it comes and costing $5, we're sure that this game deserves the adjective dissuasive. Anyway, blessed who dares to play it: not only you will be able to save the Free People from the evil's dark yoke, but also be part of videogaming history itself. May we suggest you to visit LoM's website first?

*Sad footnote: Mike Singleton, creator of the original LoM and then War in the Middle Earth (perhaps the best LotR videogame ever) among many others, passed October 10th, 2012. May loading tapes be faster in heaven.

This is the one game I played to the end on my Spectrum (never quite finished Revenge). Of course I also made a beautiful map, which was I'm shamed to admit was what I enjoyed most! This app is a truly faithful reproduction of the original. Thankyou and well done for continuing to support it and MS's memory.

This is an excellent remake with some useful additional functions to make it easier to use such as a compass which appears if you long press the screen. I hope they can add a hall of fame feature, to show who's completed the game fastest in quest mode, campaign mode, or with the least casualties etc. Also some of the buttons could be slightly better placed. Nevertheless, well done!

A great nostalgic throwback to a game that kept me stymied for a long time as a kid on C-64

Forget eye candy in modern gaming, this is just why a game can grip a person. Once entered, this world will keep you inside it, like a book, only better. enjoy.
