    Asami: The Furry Samurai's review

    Published: 2014-02-03, by Peter Warrior.

A 2D sidescroller set on a furry medieval Japan invaded by aliens, as usual.

    • Cutscenes and some design choices
    • Control unresponsiveness
    • Lack of additional game modes, leaderboards or additional stuff

    "Niten Ichi-Foxx"

Of course, we can't help but review a game about a furry anthropomorphic samurai foxx (kitsune) battling robot aliens and furry critters in a never-ending runner sidescroller game.

In fact, this game is about swiping up or down to change the line you're currently running to avoid bombs and kill the more and get more items enemies the better till you get to some sort of final boss. Then, if you've done your homework, you'll have a full bar of superpower ready to unleash the seven hells of samurai-ness upon him and therefore go ahead to the next stage.

Graphics aren't to write home about, but cutscenes and final bosses are pretty nice and are appreciated, and gameplay is really thrilling. However, controls are unresponsive, and something as easy as changing lanes can become a nightmare, let alone perform tricky maneuvers to reach all the items and slash down all enemies at the same time. The main character isn't customizable and there's no online leaderboard or any other game mode other than the standard one.

It isn't a bad game at all, but that control responsiveness issue severely cuts off gaming lifespan.
