    Sci-Fi Heroes's review

    A team-up sci-fi defense game

    7.8
    • Free, optional in-app purchases available
    • Dialogues and playability are excellent
    • It could have a little bit more of everything
    • Animations drop average rating a bit.

    "Healbot heal!"

Sci-fi Heroes might be a dream come true. A team beat'em-up with witty dialogues (heck, I love that robot) set in a fantasy futuristic setting (a sort-of pulp sci-fi) with heaps of levels (over 40) to fulfill and different skills to upgrade and item to find and equip. As you have to defend a spot rather than crossing a stage, it should be considered closer to defense games rather than a sidescroller, though you may think otherwise.

Characters respond to the usual stereotypes of the tank, healer, mage and so on, but are beautifully designed, same for the enemies. Gameplay is intense but not overwhelmingly challenging. Bosses are always welcomed and this is no exception, and there's a chance to asynchronously play with your friends and share the items you find.

On the other hand, touch response can betray you at the worst moment, and some loadings are far longer than what you would expect. Anyway, we'd like there were more different characters and monsters, additional game modes and more focus on the storyline, but it's a highly recommendable game no matter how you look at it.
