A new and original game concept.

    • Awesome soundtrack
    • Originality
    • Free without ads.
    • Only the first episode

"An Inception-based game developed by Square"

A wild mix of comicbook, movie soundtrack and oneiric plot made by the same guys who release a Final Fantasy game every year? How can you tell whether you're living inside a dream or you're dreaming your daily life? Is there room for Philosophy, albeit tiny, in the games industry?

Imaginary Range starts as a comic book where you have to pay attention to find bonuses. This bonuses come as items that will be used later or painted faces that are exchanged for coins, which unlock sections of the gallery. Every some frames there's a minigame you have to overcome in order to continue reading. Minigames can be like a flight control, a puzzle or a blasting bubbles game. The alternation of reading a gorgeous manga-like comic and playing those fun minigames creates a whole new playing experience.

However, not all that glitters is gold. The plot background should be deeper, minigames could be far more elaborated and there aren't any choices to take so the outcome is a linear, simple game. It may be even disappointing.

This first chapter is free and has no ads in. When Square launches chapter two we suppose we'll have to pay for.

Overall, one could say that the result isn't outstanding, but it's absolutely worth trying. We'll always have Paris.

Imaginary Range offers a new genre of entertainment: a hybrid comic and game experience.

As you read through Square Enix's latest new tale, you'll view story cutscenes between comic pages and play through a variety of game segments. Finish the story once, and you'll unlock extra comic commentary and the ability to play the game portions separately. The coins you collect in the comic and games can be used to unlock new entries in the app's Gallery mode.

English, French and Japanese text options available.

Flick right to left: Go to next page
Flick left to right: Go to previous page
    Tap: Open menu
Double-tap: Switch between panel and page mode

Consult the in-app manual for other controls.

    * This app works only in vertical mode.

Not rating the story or gameplay, but the app. Seeing as I can't even open it without it instantly crashing

So after a long time I go to play the second episode and to catch up I re-download this and it automatically crashes on start. Shame, it's a great game from what I remember.

I have a pretty good phone (the bigger Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3), and the game just shows me the title then crashes. I'm guessing the second episode works since it has a better rating... But it'd be nice if I could play this first episode first. Apparently SE doesn't even support this app anymore (based on a previous review). I'm pretty disappointed tbh...
