Do whatever it takes to reach the exit in integrated and user-generated puzzles

    • Tricky puzzles keep you thinking
    • Many different elements involved in solving
    • Woop is cute
    • 161mb is too weighty for most devices
    • Misses the mark regarding Chip's Challenge nostalgia
    • Difficult controls

    "Chip's Challenge nostalgia"

Remember the early 90's PC game Chip's Challenge? from the same developers comes Chuck's Challenge 3D, bringing the classic fight-your-way-to-the-exit puzzles to your mobile device.

Navigate a purple fellow called Woop through the various obstacles blocking him in each level. Similar to the original, anticipate pushing around blocks, locating keys, flipping switches, treading lightly over lava, doggy paddling through water, and evading all types of baddies on the way. The puzzles get progressively more complex, leading to some serious head-scratchers as you proceed through the exits.

The ability to access user-generated puzzles is unique and pretty neat. You can also play around with creating and uploading your own puzzles for other users to solve.

I'm as nostalgic for Chip's Challenge as anybody - I spent countless hours attempting to get through Melinda's clubhouse! However, Chuck's Challenge 3D doesn't quite hit the sweet spot for me. One huge drawback is its massive size - 161mb is far too much for a puzzle game. The 3D aspect of the graphics adds nothing but dead weight, and I'd even venture that the graphics would be more attractive without it. The controls are also rather difficult to use; Woop tends to go everywhere apart from where you'd like him to.

I really want Chuck's Challenge 3D from Niffler Ltd. to appeal to those who miss strategic puzzle games, but its huge size prevents it from being widely playable on many devices. I wonder if they can come out with a "lite" version that's more accessible.
