Amerzone The Explorer's Legacy
by: Anuman • 890
Mobile specs are getting solid enough to be able to port in the best of PC gaming from the late 1990s. In the case of Amerzone, that's wholly excellent news - whether or not you've played it on a computer, the beautiful exploration-driven mystery translates near-perfectly to a mobile experience. Think Myst but less complicated, or, more accurately, think Syberia, the second PC title from the same developer.
Meet dying explorer Emile Valembois, who begs of you to finish his life's work, an expedition to the Amerzone meant to bring back an egg of which it was robbed 50 years ago. You'll move about an artistically rendered 3D world by pointing and clicking on action icons through forest and swamp. The segues between scenes are well done; it may not be in the fully 3D style that we're used to in modern PC games, but the tradeoff allows for heavy investment in the audiovisual quality instead. Use notebooks and other items discovered along the way to pick up clues, and keeps your eyes open for giant white birds said to be born and die without ever coming down from the skies.
I've alluded to the high quality of the game, so the negative is pretty obvious: the app is HUGE. Make certain you're on a wifi connection to download it, plus that your device has enough space to comfortably run it.
Assuming your device is up to snuff, Amerzone is a gorgeous translation of a late 90's PC hit to the m-gaming world, and highly recommended for those who take their adventures replete with natural wonder.
