Come one, come all, let's match til we can match no more. And in 3D, no less: Beagle and Pug Inc.'s Qubulous takes matching to the next dimension.
Your objective: clear the stack of colored blocks within the time limit, eliminating them by matching three of a kind. Your tool: a block shooter and an arsenal of special pieces that you'll have to strategize with in order to clear the screen. Ramps scoot underneath towers of blocks, triangles split blocks in two, and magical rainbow pieces are jokers. There are 60 levels to puzzle over.
The 3D aspect of Qubulous is cool, adding something fresh to the match-3 genre. It would be great, however, if the user could skip forward in terms of difficulty - I bet the later levels become really challenging, which would prove more engaging for folks with strong spacial ability. The design is also reminiscent of the late 1990s, which can be retro-cool or just out of touch according to your taste.
Beagle and Pug Inc.'s Qubulous is a decent addition to the match-3 genre, and the developer's logo totally gets cute points.

Version 1.1 Out with New Levels!
Match-3 Puzzle Game - Reinvented!
• addictive match-3, block-matching game play
• cool hand-drawn blocks
• beautiful music and sound effects
• 60 mind-boggling levels
• no permissions requested
Qubulous is a block-matching puzzle game in isometric 3D, featuring deceptively simple yet addictive game play, beautiful music and level after level of matching goodness!
The object of Qubulous is to clear of its blocks within the allotted time. You clear boards by lining up like-colored blocks in groups of three or more (matching up, down, left, right, forward and back). The higher number of blocks in a match, the higher your score. The quicker you are able to complete a level, the more bonus points you will receive - it can be more advantageous to finish a level quickly than to take time lining up high-match combinations.
In addition to the 'normal' colored blocks, you will find special pieces to assist you on your path. Ramps push blocks upward, wedges split blocks into two, laser turrets blast away existing block (except for stone blocks) and rainbow blocks match any other color.
To move your play piece, swipe your finger left and right across the screen. Your play piece will only travel along the front two sides of the square play board. When the piece is lined up as you want, tap the screen quickly anywhere to shoot it onto the board.
Alternatively, you can enable an on-screen joystick to move your play piece.
Qubulous runs on devices running Android 2.3 or later.
Qubulous was developed by Beagle and Pug Inc, a one man, two dog software development company headquartered in southwest Virginia.
