Talk about original gameplay: Construct complex chemical factories to efficiently transform raw elements

    • Ultra original and brainy as heck
    • Genre-mashup glee
    • Comprehensive tutorial and growing complexity
    • Very difficult to play on smaller screens

    "Action and reaction"

Zachtronics' SpaceChem is super brainy, super complex, super difficult, and just plain super. You're a reactor engineer, and your goal is to set up a series of processes to transform raw elements into specific chemical products. Do it efficiently and effectively to meet quotas and outperform your peers. The puzzles are rich and complicated, including plenty that are user designed. The tutorial's enough to give you the basic idea, but you'll need to bust your brain over a couple levels before getting the hang of how to make the most out of your atom smashing. Note that the game is designed for tablets - playing on a small mobile device will likely just be frustrating, although you can feel free to try.

NOTE: You may experience problems running SpaceChem Mobile on the Android runtime (ART). We're looking into it!

IMPORTANT: This game is designed for tablets with a resolution of 1280x800 or greater.

TIP: If SpaceChem crashes while launching, check to see if "Force GPU rendering" is enabled in your device's developer settings. If it is, try turning it off - this may fix the crash!

I've played other zachtronics games and really love them. This one seems similarly fun and I was excited to have one that I could play on mobile, but the ui is actually terrible. It might be manageable on a large tablet (I'm not sure, I don't own one), but anything smaller and you're going to have a rough time.

Horrible UI, just playable on a tablet, but not a phone.

In this game you play an engineer, designing the interior of reactors in order to combine elements into molecules. It requires a lot of logic. The order and timing of each reactor setup is completely up to you. The better the timing and setup, the better the score. Excellent replay value. As i learned more, I found myself going back and re-designing earlier levels for better scores. The ui is tough, but manageable on tablets. Not for everyone but definitely a gem for some.

Get it on PC or tablet. The game itself is very compelling. Unfortunately, the controls are super cumbersome on a phone's tiny touch screen and the font is asoundingly small. My eyeballs are rocking 20/20 vision, but I was still forced to bring my s8 uncomfortably close to my face and the precision required to tap on the right symbol is annoying.

As someone who owns the PC version the play buttons are dreadfully small on phones, especially with cases.
