Words are my big obsession, and I've gotta rave, rave, rave. Churlish? Cynosure? Coterie? All this delectable verbal fruit hanging heavy on the vine, and we haven't even gotten past letter C. Hone your quotidian linguistic acuity with the Vocab Builder app.
The format should be more than familiar to anyone who's ever studied vocabulary before: match the term with the definition or vice-versa. I hope you like multiple-choice, because that's what's on the plate here. You can tweak the word bank based on your desired skill level, and I'll admit that a few of the "hard" list words even slipped up yours truly.
Unfortunately, there's no way to keep track of which words you need to work on. Since the database holds thousands of terms, it's tricky business holding on to just the ones that you really need to review. There's also no alternatives to the multiple-choice format, which quickly devolves from maybe-fun to terribly tedious.
If you've got the patience to put up with the no-frills, repetitive format, Gordon L. Hempton's minimalist Vocab Builder app could be for you.
