    A strategy and exploration game

    • Vast world and options
    • Deep gameplay
    • Pirates!
    • Discouraging for casual gamers

    "Beneath the (pixel) blag flag"

Age of Pirates is an old school game that looks like brought from the EGA times, wherein similar games flourished. They -as this is- were more focused on internal dice rolls and options everywhere to give the feeling of randomness and free will rather than flashy graphics, animations and visual performance, which is limited to a tactical top-down view, a few menus and simple graphics to represent harbors and places where action takes part.

It's a deep game that hardcore gamers will enjoy, but will discourage casual ones. The umpteen possibilities this half adventure, half strategy game can keep you entertained for weeks before passing out. There's mainly trade, but also some interesting sidequests, and don't forget that the most important thing is to explore, explore and explore.

Recommendable, though only a minority will appreciate how much good this game really is.
