Star Wars: Tiny Death Star's review

Yes, it's Death Star management game

    • Official Star Wars and Lucasfilm license
    • Amount of characters from chapters I-VI and some new
    • Hilarious tone yet deep gameplay
    • Overall, no complaints

"I find your lack of pixels disturbing"

Blatantly inspired on Tiny Tower, Tiny Death Star is a brilliant management game whose last goal is to faithfully represent how Death Star management would be. In fact, it's rather a long addition of Star Wars characters and puns, all beautifully pixelated, peppered with so-called missions ranging from hilariousness to, well, unnecessariness. Anyway, don't expect anything too serious or respectful to Star Wars' lore.

Within the genre it belongs to, it's one of the best, if not the best so far. However, it's a very little genre, and we might preferred a serious and ambitious management game instead. The retro graphics are Nimblebit's signature, and are funny, but as we have said many times before, it must be time to move on before everybody forgets why we are buying $500 devices with 2 Gb of RAM.

Likewise, although it's a good game, it doesn't bring any surprising feature: you can't interact with your friends' death stars or share yours, you can't create your own content or characters and there aren't minigames to shoot rebels down or blast planets off.
