Outwitters is one of the best turn-based strategy game you can find on the Appstore

    • Neat graphics, lovely artwork
    • Asynchronous turn-based strategy game
    • Online leaderboards
    • Highly addictive
    • Unresponded matches should expire
    • It's a bit chaotic managing many open games

    "Fierce battles on childish graphics"

Premise is simple: destroy your opponent's homebase set on a tile-based board. However, your moves depend on turns: design a better strategy than your opponent and you will be able to both, destroy their units and knock down their headquarters. Don't be fooled by its childish graphics, Outwitters is one of the best-crafted strategy & defense you've played on a mobile device. Some features make it insanely fun.

First off, its graphics. Of course, the theme is a matter of taste, but no one would deny that graphics are clear and neat and they've been carefully designed. The outcome is just impressive. Hilarious units designs that turn inanimate objects into "humanized" units.

Second, Outwitter's asynchronous turn-based multiplayer mode. It requires Internet connection to play against players from around the world on a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 (pass the device) mayhem, however, that's precisely what makes it such addictive. You have to find someone to play against via Gamecenter. I'm missing Facebook/Twitter integration to find opponent's. Anyway, the current amount of players guarantees a constant flow of battles.

Finally, there are online leaderboards, a global ranking to see how good you are compared worldwide players.

If you play the free version, you only get one team to play, the Scallywags. The paid version lets you choose among 3 more teams: Adorables, Feedbacks and Veggienauts (new). Team's regular units are basically the same, the only kind that can make the difference are the elite units that have specific skills for each team.

The only catches are related to turn-based strategy genre. Some players start games, make a move and never hit back. Other players don't play their turn when they understand that they are about to lose. Finally: it can be chaotic managing lots of different games simultaneously.

Besides these catches, the game is insanely addictive and highly recommended.
